Last weekend, 13 Madeira swimmers traveled to compete in the VISAA State Meet. Madeira proudly finished 5th overall, out of 50 total teams, "an outstanding accomplishment and a true testament to the continued strength of Madeira’s swim program," states Athletic Director Tavis Laws.

Weekend Highlights:
- Madeira's 200 Relay team set a new school record with a time of 1:34.94.
- Erin Kass '29 captured the VISAA State Championship in the 100 Back (54.65), setting another Madeira school record in the process.
Reflecting on her first State meet as a Snail, Kass said, "Competing for the first time on the Madeira swim team has been an incredible experience. Breaking the relay record at States with Sunny, Lydia, and Kylee will be a highlight of my high school career, and breaking the backstroke record wouldn’t have been possible without such a supportive team."
Coach Laws went on to share, "Across the board, our athletes delivered to end the season strong. The majority of our swimmers dropped time and raced to personal bests at the championship meet, a clear reflection of their preparation, focus, and commitment."
Swim & Dive Head Coach Brenna Broadus was thrilled by the team's performance. "Our performance at the 2026 VISAA State meet was exceptional. We saw 80% lifetime best times, had incredible energy and support for each other throughout the weekend, and were the 2026 Team Sportsmanship recipients. We broke two nearly decade-old team records in the 100 Backstroke and 200 Free Relay, finishing first and second place, respectively, and finished 5th overall. The coaching staff is so proud of all of our athletes!"
