Our Vision: Global citizenship inspires the Madeira community to transform the world with revolutionary generosity and build authentic relationships with places and people, beginning with ourselves and our own community. When we know ourselves, we can embrace others with humility, explore our world with curiosity, and develop our capacity to promote social innovation and equitable partnerships.
We celebrate and encourage Global Citizenship everywhere on our beautiful campus! In our classrooms, students are thinking about the systemic roots of oppression, enjoying project-based learning designed to think about what we owe to others, and regularly asking questions about how to use our voices without silencing others. We also think critically—and are enthusiastic about—opportunities to see the world. The Madeira community actively engages in conversations about how to 1). minimize risk associated with travel and 2). engage ethically with people who welcome us into their communities, in the USA and beyond.
A proud member of the Global Education Benchmark Group, Madeira has been professionalizing programming for travel and is committed to launching gold-standard travel opportunities (that include language immersion and experiential courses in the USA, Africa, Asia, and Latin America) when it is once again safe to do so.
