On Thursday, September 25, the Madeira varsity and junior varsity teams faced off against perennial rivals Episcopal High School. With a true team effort, varsity won in three with scores of 25-17, 25-15, and 25-16, making them 3-1 for the season.
Up next was the junior varsity match. The varsity girls lined the sidelines, cheering on their sister Snails. After losing a close first set, the junior varsity Snails came back to win decisively in the second set, and then win a nail-biter of a third set. Ultimately, they edged out Episcopal in a battle of nerves! Winning scores: 27-29, 25-19, and 20-18.
The varsity team rushed the court on the final point and both teams jumped up and down in the huddle cheering.
“It was a great night of volleyball,” said athletic director and assistant coach Katie Lamade. “I loved the team spirit and comradery the varsity and JV teams displayed.”
JV record is now 2-1.Athletics
