Visual art students tour Corcoran Gallery

November 29, 2012

On Saturday, November 10, 2012, eight visual arts students took advantage of the beautiful warm afternoon to explore the Corcoran Gallery. They were entertained by Docent Mariel Gabet and the “Through the Artist Eyes Tour.” Students discovered how identity and cultural context influence artists’ choice of media, subject matter, and style. Works of art were explored through comparing and contrasting the elements of art found in each. This experience was enhanced by a short discussion with a Corcoran art student in the college’s studios. Students then had the opportunity to create a color silkscreen print to explore their own artistic vision.

After the guided tour and workshop students were allowed to explore the museum and enjoy the wonderful collection of magnificent art works.
