Madeira welcomed the Trisha Brown Dance Company (TBDC) to campus for a special two-day visit during which the company performed and instructed a master class to eager Madeira dancers. Thursday, May 2, company dancer Samuel Wentz instructed nearly 20 advanced dance students in the methodology and style of which the renowned choreographer, Trisha Brown is known.
Friday afternoon, students, faculty, staff, and several alumnae and friends enjoyed a private performance in the Chapel/Auditorium. Mr. Pat Hughes, parent of Kimberly Hughes Moazed ’81 and TBDC trustee introduced the company, highlighting Trisha Brown’s many accomplishments and drawing the comparison that all the students in the audience have the potential to earn a Guggenheim Fellowship or something equally as special.
The company performed three pieces: Rogues, Spanish Dance, and Les Yeux et l’âme. To the audience’s delight the dancers returned to the stage after the performance to answer questions (and pose for a few pictures).Arts
