Ten Madeira seniors receive National Merit Scholarship honors

Ten Madeira girls have been recognized by The National Merit Scholarship Corp. for their outstanding performance on the PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Five have been named as Commended Students in the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program. Over 1.5 million students took the test last October, and 34,000 nationwide qualified as Commended Students. Our scholars are: Kit Albaugh, Annie Liu, Kim Lytle, Kelleen Moriarty, and Leah Zeng. 

Four girls have qualified as Outstanding Participants in the National Achievement Scholarship Program. They scored in the top 3% of 160,000+ Black Americans and as such will be referred to U.S. colleges and universities. These seniors are: Nana Acquah, Bridget Duru, Michaela Laurencin, and Chi Mpundu.

Katharine Jiang qualified as a National Merit Semifinalists and will continue to compete for a scholarship in the spring.
