Swim and dive finishes regular season 10-1

The Madeira varsity swim and dive team completed its dual meet season with two wins against Georgetown Day School (122-58) and Oakcrest (128-55) in a double dual meet on Tuesday, February 4.

The swimming and diving Snails totaled a season win-loss record of 10-1.

Individual event winners were: Kylie Jordan ‘16 (100 Butterfly) Michaela Saunders ’14 (200 Freestyle) Farrin Saba ’15 (50 Freestyle) Carly Yosaitis ‘15 (Dive) Romi Gould ‘17(100 Freestyle) Rachel Tate ’14 (100 Breaststroke). Madeira also won the 200 Freestyle Relay (Saba, Marina Jackson ‘14, Ingrid Boyum ’14, Jordan).

“The best part of this meet is that we now have 16 girls going to the state championships next week,” said Madeira coach Rod Montrie. “We now have two relays in each event, four divers and some of great seeds in our best events.”

Madeira will compete in the Virginia Independent School State Championships at George Mason University’s Freedom Center in Manassas, VA on Friday, February 14 and Saturday February 15.
