Student art unveiling at Mosaic

November 14, 2013

Students in Advanced Studio Art class will unveil murals for a community art project at the Mosaic shopping district in Fairfax, VA on November 22, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. Students were asked to create three-foot by three-foot murals reflecting the theme “Discover You.”  Their art will be displayed on white walls surrounding a construction area in the new shopping district at Gallows Road and Lee Highway.

“Projects like these are a great way for our girls to connect to the community in which they live,” says studio art teacher Constance Mattox. “And it’s an opportunity for them to showcase their work, along with the Madeira Art Department.”

As part of the unveiling ceremony, Sweet Ti, Madeira’s a cappella group, will be performing. Several Mosaic retailers and restaurants are offering specials and giving five percent of sales to the Madeira Arts Council.
