Snails Receive All-ISL Recognition

March 2, 2020

During the 2020 winter season Sofie Davis ’20 and Ruva Kiara ’21 earned All-Independent School League (ISL) honors for swimming and basketball respectively. Each season the All ISL team is selected by the varsity coaches within the league.

Sofie has earned this distinction for four consecutive years. She expressed her excitement saying, “It is an honor to be selected for the All ISL Swim and Dive Team. We had such an amazing group of girls on the team this year, so I have loved the opportunity of being able to represent and compete with my team. I take a lot of pride in being a Snail, so I am so happy to be representing the whole school and our team by being selected.”

“Sofie has left her mark on the Madeira varsity swim and dive program and joins the list of our state champions that have demonstrated the will to win and also the will to be the best teammate possible," said Aquatic Director and head swim coach Rod Montrie. “With All-ISL, All-State and individual and relay state titles, we look forward to following Sofie's swimming career as she starts a new chapter swimming for the University of Kentucky.”

Ruva Kiara, a junior boarder from Fairfax Station, Virginia, earned honorable mention for the ISL A Division basketball team. She led the Snails to five victories averaging 12 points and 8 rebounds in the 2019-2020 winter season.

Congratulations to Sofie and Ruva on their accomplishments during the winter season!
