Grace Frerichs ’20, Lily Rathbun ’20 and Julia Skrowronek ’21 were selected for the Spring All Independent School League (ISL) A Division team for their respective sports. The All ISL teams are selected by the varsity coaches within the league and confirmed by the ISL Athletic Directors.
Grace, a junior boarder from Alexandria, Virginia and Lily, a junior boarder from Falls Church, Virginia were two student-athletes selected for the All ISL A Division Lacrosse team. Grace controlled the draw for Madeira and was a key element of attack scoring 63 goals for the Snails. On the other end of the ball, Lily capturing 172 saves and held top competitors below their average goals per game. Grace reflects on the season by saying, “this season was extra special. With so many new girls who haven’t played lacrosse before gave us an opportunity to really bond and learn the sport together, which is exactly what we did. Every day everyone showed up to work and – with the help of our amazing coaches – our dedication really showed in our performance.”
“It is an incredible honor for these girls to be recognized for their contributions to this team and program by the ISL,” said Head Coach, Kelly Chandler. “We are so proud of their effort and they both played a huge part in our team’s success this season.”
Julia, a sophomore boarder from Decatur, Georgia was selected for the All ISL A Division Softball team after a solid 2019 rookie season. Julia pitched for the Snails and helped lead varsity softball to four victories overall and an ISL Championship appearance against Maret.
Head Coach, Karina Bond reflects on the season by saying, “Congratulations to Julia on All League ISL! It's never easy coming in new and trying to make a name for yourself. Always wanting to do more and do better, Julia was able to set the tone early before leaving for break. Look for big things to come from Julia as she moves into her junior and senior year!”
