On Monday, May 16, the Madeira community gathered to celebrate five Snails planning to continue their chosen sports in higher education. Sue Cabot, athletic director, spoke individually about each athlete and their future plans.

Rachel Michael is a spirited and committed member of the Madeira Equestrian team and she will proudly represent Madeira next year at Bucknell. SHe looks forward to continue riding in Lewisburg.

Multi-sport athlete and captain of swim and dive team, Mary McCarthy heads South with her strong team ethic and wonderful spirit to help the Sewanee swim program.

Claire Womack has been a three season IEA rider and captain while at Madeira. She is a steady, focused and a true leader. Claire has been invited to take her skills west to the nationally-ranked Stanford equestrian club team.

During her time at Madeira, Carter Ware has been a multi-sport athlete and captain of field hockey. She will continue her love of riding at Sewanee.

Jordan Williams is a three sport varsity athlete and team captain. She will take her tenacious play and big smile to Colgate University where she will continue her game of tennis.

“Congratulations to all of our athletes,” said Cabot. “In addition to their love for their sport and drive to hone their skills, they have been great role models and leaders here at Madeira, in the classroom, community and in their respective sports.”

Earlier this year we recognized Kylie Jordan who heads to Duke to swim and Kita Konerth who will head to UConn to play field hockey.
