The Madeira Volleyball program is gearing up to host its forth annual Dig Pink match to help raise support and awareness for the fight against breast cancer. The competitive match will take place on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at the Hurd Sports Center against Sidwell Friends School. Varsity will tip off at 6:00 pm and Junior Varsity will begin at 4:30 pm. All spectators are encouraged to get hype and wear Pink in support of the fight against Breast Cancer.
Dig Pink is a nationwide movement to provide meaningful and impactful experiences for athletes while inspiring and empowering them to come together in support of the stage IV breast cancer community.
The Snails began the Dig Pink tradition during the 2015 Fall season, raising close to $1,000 for the cause, and raised over $3,200 during last year's event. This year, Madeira Volleyball has a goal of raising over $2,500 for the fight against breast cancer during their 2018 Dig Pink Campaign.
Varsity Head Coach, Peter Bristotte expresses how honored he is to be a part of something bigger than volleyball. “We learn how to be supportive, how to be there for each other, and how to work together towards a common goal. Is this sport or life? Well, for us it is both. This is one of the numerous reasons why we feel honored to get involved with our community and give back. Dig Pink is once again a demonstration of what common effort can do for ourselves, for others, for everybody. I am proud of my girls for being willing and able to contribute to the Side-Out Foundation."
