Congratulations to our Madeira IEA team and riders who competed at IEA Zone 3, Region 2 finals, March 7-8 at Pickwick Stables in Sykesville, MD. Having the massive winter storms disrupting training leading up to the competition, the team members demonstrated great perseverance, poise, and sportsmanship riding under conditions that proved to be quite challenging.
The team competition was fierce with six teams – more than any other region – vying to finish in the top two to move onto Zones. Although Madeira finished two points shy of qualifying, the team proved dominant during the regular season earning a record number of championships and the most points of any team during the regular season.
In what was clearly the most competitive region in the Zone, Madeira qualified more individuals than any other team. Congratulations to Emily Leins ’17, Charlotte Burch ’17, Jacey Albaugh ’18, Carter Ware ’16, and middle school riders Cassidy Bosch and Casey Ruggiero, who will all be competing in IEA Zone 3 Finals at Garrison Forrest School on March 28 and 29. A top two finish at Zone Finals earns them a spot at Nationals in April.Riding Athletics
