Sculpture class reveals first project of spring

April 18, 2016

This week the Studio III - Sculpture class completed a Wind Spinners project and placed them out on the lawn in front of the art studio for the community to enjoy. According to studio teacher Constance Mattox this project was created as a collaborative sculpture lesson. Sasha Newman, technical director for the performing arts program, joined the class in the studio and provided the necessary wood cutting equipment, power tools and instruction to create the spinners. The students used recycled karate wood, donated by science teacher and karate instructor Dr. Stacie Boyette, and finished the spinners with acrylic paint and spray varnish.

Adding this pop of color to campus were artists Chloe Bennett, Ana Garcia Elizondo, Diya Kallam, Erin McGovern, Dylan Murphy, and K Smith.
