The new school year brings a new look for News Parents Can Use, new and updated Parents & Families pages on the Madeira website, and a new volunteer signup process.
Based on feedback from parents, NPCU is now cleaner, shorter, and better linked to information specific to parents’ needs. It will always be a work in progress, and we continue to welcome suggestions on how to make it as useful as possible: as a newsletter by parents for parents, this is your newsletter. So, whenever you find yourself thinking “I wish there was _____ information here,” take a moment to email firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know how you filled in the blank!
Along with an updated newsletter, this year brings reorganization and updating of a number of Parents & Families pages on the website. Click on Parents’ Association, and you will now find information about who we are and what we do, with links to the President’s current message, the newly updated Ways to Volunteer page, the NPCU page, and the current roster of those parents who coordinate the various volunteer events throughout the year (otherwise known as the PALC). You will also find a new Senior Year Details page under Parents & Families and a new home in the menu for the Parent Events page.
As for volunteering, this year the place to go for all volunteer information is the Madeira website. Parent coordinators will be creating their own online signups through SignUpGenius for the events they are leading, and those links will be posted on the Ways to Volunteer webpage. If a signup has not yet been created for an event, a link to the coordinator’s email will appear as a means to find out more information in the interim.
On a closing note, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Ashley Smith, Associate Director of Communication. She has guided us in making these needed and welcome changes and has worked tirelessly in responding to our multitude of requests. If you see Ashley around campus, please take time to add your thanks!
Here’s to a new year and new beginnings!
