New transportation program effective fall 2014

July 24, 2014

Madeira will be offering a bus/van transportation program that will allow us to serve students throughout the Washington, DC metro area. Madeira will offer round-trip service to neighborhoods in Washington, DC, Maryland, Virginia and one of the Metro stops in McLean, VA on the new Silver Line. We will be offering a cluster stop service where the bus/van will pick up and drop off a group of girls at a cluster stop or at the Metro.  All buses/vans/cars will be driven by experienced drivers who will carry cell phones for safety and easy communication with the school and parents. The routes and rates for the transportation service will be determined yearly depending on the number of families who contract for the service.

Alexandria:  We will continue the Alexandria transportation program. This service is based on round-trip service that begins and ends at the Safeway in the center of Alexandria. Due to the new schedule, in which girls do not begin classes until 8:30 a.m., the pickup time will be between 7:15 and 7:30 a.m. The bus/van will leave Madeira at 4:30 p.m., after the D Block activity. The annual cost for the round-trip service will be approximately $3,500, based on the number of girls who participate.

DC/Bethesda:  This route will make two stops. The first will be in the Tenleytown area (exact location TBD) and will then stop at Norwood School. The departure from Tenleytown will be 7:00 a.m. and from Norwood at 7:30 a.m. The bus/van will leave Madeira at 4:30 p.m., after the D Block activity and stop first at Norwood and then Tenleytown. The annual cost will be approximately $3,500, based on the number of girls who participate in the service.

Spring Hill/Silver Line Metro:  With the arrival of the new Silver Line Metro service to Tysons Corner, Madeira will provide transportation from the Spring Hill Silver Line Metro stop at 8:00 a.m. and at 4:45 p.m. (leaving Madeira at 4:30 p.m.). Madeira will require a minimum of four girls participating in order for the service to operate. Cost for this service is $1,500 annually.
