August 28, 2014
Mr. and Mrs. Southworth with Henley

Madeira is pleased to announce that Hunter Southworth has been named director of residential life in the Dean of Students Office. Mr. Southworth has been at Madeira for more than eight years, most recently working as Development Operations Manager. Mr. Southworth’s appreciation for boarding school programing is a product of his own experience attending the Kent School, a co-educational boarding school in Connecticut. He earned a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Colgate University where he was also a four-year member of the men’s varsity rowing team. He began at Madeira in the Alumnae & Development Office as the Assistant Director of Annual & Parent Giving before becoming the Development Operations Manager. Prior to coming to Madeira he worked for two and a half years on Capitol Hill in the Office of Congressman Christopher Shays, where he became acquainted with Madeira by working with two Co-Curriculum interns in his office. Mr. Southworth has lived on campus with his wife, Ali Southworth, and their two dogs, Henley and Eve, since 2011. He also has several family connections to Madeira: both his great-aunt, Elmeda Ansell `21, and his cousin, Tracy Ansell `50, are Madeira alumnae.
