Madeira tops Georgetown Visitation

The Madeira varsity swim and dive team defeated Georgetown Visitation 98-88 in Madeira’s home opener on Tuesday, January 14.

Individual event winners included Kylie Jordan’16 (200 IM, 100 Backstroke), Michaela Saunders’14 (200 Freestyle, 100 Freestyle), Romi Gould‘17 (100 Butterfly) and Carly Yosaitis’15 (Diving).

Madeira also won all three relays: 200 Medley relay (Farrin Saba’15, Jordan, Gould, Stephanie Royer‘15), 200 Freestyle relay (Saba, Jordan, Gould, Royer) and 400 Freestyle relay (Royer, Nora Canellakis’16, Saunders, Gould)

“This was a hard fought meet and we needed to swim well to beat a tough Visitation team.” said Madeira coach Rod Montrie, “We had a lot of swimmers swim back to back events and their hard training paid off. Our divers looked strong in their first meet of the year and it’s nice to open our season at home with a win.”

Madeira’s next meet is on Friday, January 17 in a quad meet against Maret, GDS and Bullis.
