Five Madeira Swim and Dive athletes received national acknowledgments for both individual and relay events from the 2017-2018 National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (NISCA)/Speedo Girls High School Swimming All-America. NISCA is a professional organization that supports High School coaches of all aquatic sports.
Izzy Gati ’18, Giovi Moriarty ’18, Maddie Heilbrun ’18 and Sofie Davis ’20 were accredited as top 100 participants in the 200 Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:35.20. Izzy Gati, Maddie Heilbrun, Meaghan Doyle ’19 and Sofie Davis were also ranked in the top 100 in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:44.69 and the 400 Freestyle Relay with a 3:27.22 finish.
Izzy also ranked in the top 100 in the 100 Yard Freestyle, top 50 (out of 100) in the 200 Yard Freestyle and the 200 Yard Individual Medley.
The honors continue to pour in as Sofie Davis is accepted to the USA Swimming Scholastic All-America team. Candidates of the USA All-America team must maintain a 3.5 grade point average for the current academic year. Candidates must also swim an individual pool time equal to a 2017 Winter Junior National qualifying time in their event. Sofie qualified in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, 200 Meter Individual Medley and the 100 Meter Breaststroke with a 1:14.21 finish.
