Madeira students earn Karate promotions in Mod 4

February 10, 2020

The Madeira Karate Dojo is proud to announce the following promotions awarded on February 7, 2020.

Roku kyu (two-stripe white belt):  Yingying (Jenny) Rao ’21, Isabelle Murdock ’22, Elshadai Bereda ’23, Athena Cox ’23, and Sena Ocloo ’23.

Promotions are based on proficiency of physical skill and personal growth and these students have made great strides throughout the winter season.  The students have learned empty hand self-defense techniques, forms, and sparring combinations as well as strikes, defenses, and forms with escrima sticks and the bo staff.  Additionally, training has included falling and throwing techniques.

If you have any questions about the program, please contact the instructor, Dr. Stacey Boyette (Science Department).  Dr. Boyette has over 40 years of martial arts experience, holds the rank of 7th degree black belt, and is thrilled to share her passion for karate with Madeira girls.

Congratulations to all!
