Madeira riders have successful start to fall season

Seniors Ava Brugger and Kelly Nance have qualified for the United States Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA) Zone 3 Finals. They will compete at Zone Finals on October 21 at the Prince George Equestrian Center. Community rider, Catie Ortmanns, also qualified for the USHJA finals this year.




Maryland Horse and Pony Show 9/14-9/16:
Ava Brugger ’19 wins large Gittings Horsemanship medal at the Maryland Horse and Pony Show (MDHPS).  The win qualifies her for the Gittings medal final held at the WIHS Regional Horse Show at Prince George's Equestrian Center in October.

Community rider Irene Boehm and her horse, 50 Shades, won Reserve Championship in a large Pre-Children’s Division at MDHPS.


Meadowbrook Stables 10/6-7
The Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) Team had a successful weekend at Meadowbrook. The high school team was Reserve Champion out of ten teams, and the Madeira middle school team was Champion out of six teams.

Individual results: Open: Grace Frulla ‘21 was 1st on the flat and 2nd over fences. Bridget Vaughey ‘19 was 2nd on the flat and 1st over fences. Ava Brugger was 4th on the flat and 5th over fences. 

Intermediate: Izzy McMillan ’21 was 5th over fences. Eliza Cart ‘20 was 4th on the flat and 5th over fences. Sydney Newburn ’19 was 3rd on the flat and 3rd over fences. 

Novice: Mikayla Connolly ’20 was 5th on the flat. Ella Stux ‘21 was 1st on the flat. 

Beginner: Maya Wyman ‘22 was 1st on the WTC. Hannah Bender ‘19 was 2nd in the WTC.
