Madeira Dance troupe attends Master Class

November 11, 2016

In October, several students from Select Dance, Madeira’s advanced dance group, attended master classes with the Washington Area Independent School Dance Education Association (WAISDEA).

Held at Sandy Spring Friend School in Silver Spring, MD, dance companies from area private schools combined to take classes in bollywood, hip hop, musical theater, floor barre, jazz and modern with professional master teachers. Madeira dance has been involved with WAISDEA for 12 years and in March, Select Dance will once again have the opportunity to perform in The WAISDEA Dance Performance. The show, held at Holton-Arms School in Bethesda, MD, will allow several independent school dance companies to come together for a showcase.

“It is a wonderful experience for Madeira students to meet and take classes with dancers from other schools,” said Michelle Sarson, Director of Dance at Madeira. “It's not only a fun day of dance, but also a way to gauge the levels and styles of other schools. Taking master classes broadens the dance education of our students.”
