Madeira Athletes receive All ISL Honors

Lily Rathbun ’20 was selected for the All Independent School League (ISL) field hockey team while Caroline Kaczmarskyj ’22 received honorable mention for the All ISL AA Division volleyball team. The All ISL team is selected by the varsity coaches within the league and confirmed by the ISL Athletic Directors.

Lily Rathbun, a senior from Falls Church, Virginia, provided the Snails with defensive excellence and leadership. “This was my favorite season of field hockey at Madeira," expressed Lily. “Our head coach really made it a season to remember. I couldn't have asked for a better team. Everyone improved and that’s a great feeling as a captain. I am happy my field hockey career came to an end with this team.”

“I’m extremely proud of Lily for being honored with All ISL for the 2019 field hockey season,” said Head Field Hockey coach Ava Mirzadegan. “Her incredible understanding of the sport combined with her innate athleticism and steady work ethic made her a strong presence on the field.”

Caroline Kaczmarskyj, a sophomore student from Potomac Falls, Virginia, earned an honorable mention for the ISL AA Division Volleyball team. For the 2019 fall season, Caroline led the Snails in kills and serve receive score. Caroline was a consistently supportive teammate who helped propel Madeira forward on their journey to the finals.
