Madeira at The NAIS People of Color Conference

December 4, 2015

This week, Head of School Pilar Cabeza de Vaca along with teachers Ms. Chandra Smith, Ms. Nina Candia, and Ms. Reyna Pratt attended the NAIS People of Color in Tampa, Florida. Also attending the conference were students Azalyn Gonzalez ’16, Sophia Luwis ’16, Cyan Perdue ’17, Meagan Lane ’16, Elfrieda Nwabunnia ’17, and Shayna Riggins ’18. The theme of the conference: Art, Science, Soul and the Equity Imperative, fits in beautifully with much of the work we are doing with STEAM and with interdisciplinary approaches in general. Having attended the conference for several years, Ms. Cabeza de Vaca, who serves on NAIS board of trustees, stated that she looks forward to coming back with lots of food for thought and new ideas and initiatives to consider.
