One subject area where Madeira girls particularly excelled was in mathematics: every Madeira girl enrolled in AP Calculus AB scored between 4 and 5, and all 22 girls who took the AP Calculus BC exam, earned 3 or greater, including 18 students who earned a perfect score of 5.

“These scores reflect the commitment of both our faculty and our students,” said Head of School Pilar Cabeza de Vaca. “While not surprised, I am proud that year in and out we have sustained a level of excellence that is well above state and national averages.”

For the five year period spanning 2009-2014, the percentage of Madeira students who earned scores of 3 or above on their AP exams hovered between 93.8 and 91.3 percent. In the same five year time frame, The Madeira School Advanced Placement test results showed a 20 percent increase number of students taking the test and enrolling in AP courses. The national percentage of total AP students with scores of 3 or above ranged between 60 and 62 percent between 2008 and 2013.
