Great weekend for Madeira equestrian team

December 7, 2015

Congratulations to the Madeira Equestrian team for winning Reserve Champion on Saturday, December 5, 2015, at the Century Manor IEA Show in Nokesville, VA. The under-manned squad finished tied for first in points but earned the reserve ribbon after a tie-breaker. The following day, the team took home the Champion ribbon from the Hazelwild IEA Show in Fredericksburg, VA. This was an important win for the team as this facility will be hosting the first leg of the post-season in February.

In addition to the team successes, several riders qualified as individuals for regional finals this weekend. Emma Knisley '18 qualified in novice over fences, Ally Edwards '18 in both the novice over fences and flat classes, and senior Claire Womack qualified in the intermediate jumping class. Congratulations to these girls on qualifying for the post season in only three shows – the absolute minimum number possible.

Thank you to our parents for your generous support at both shows. A special thank you to Ms. Louther and Ms. Grice for their help on Sunday getting horses and riders to where they needed to be.
