Freshman Kylie Jordan led swim and dive team at State Championship

Kylie Jordan '16 earned All American honors in the 100 yard fly

Madeira had a strong showing at the 2013 Virginia Independent Schools’ State Swim and Dive Championships held on February 15-16 in Richmond, VA. The team finished sixth place out of 46 competitive teams with 125 points and was led by the outstanding performance of Kylie Jordan '16.

Kylie Jordan, who took first in the 200 yard individual medley and the 100 yard butterfly, set state records in both events and was named VIS Swimmer of the Meet. Her time of 54.50 in the 100 yard butterfly earned her an automatic All-American standing while her 200 individual medley time of 2:04.21 will qualify her for All-American consideration.  

Other Madeira finalists included Maddie Alagia ’13 (14th 200 freestyle, 9th place 500 freestyle), Farrin Saba ’15 (9th place 50 freestyle, 16th place 100 backstroke), Michaela Saunders ’14 (16th place 100 freestyle).

Madeira’s relays also finished well in the relay events taking 14th place in 200 medley relay (M. Saunders ’14, S. Janowsky ’16, G. Johnson ’13, S. Royer ’10), 5th place in the 200 freestyle relay (F. Saba, M. Alagia, G. Johnson, K. Jordan) and 4th place in the 400 freestyle relay (F. Saba, M. Alagia, M. Saunders, K. Jordan).
