June 19, 2017

Congratulations to Sasha Alexander ‘17, Briana Harrington ‘17, Millenah Nascimento ’17 and Grace Ye ’18 for winning the 2017 Cappies Award in the category of Sets for Madeira's performance of Into the Woods.

The 2017 Cappies Awards were presented at the Cappies Gala held at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. the second week in June. Students from over 60 area schools were nominated in various categories such as lights, feature actor and choreography and much more. Also nominated this year was Magana Ngaiza '17 in the category of Supporting Actress in a musical.

In the Sets category, a school is eligible for a nomination if the majority of the construction and painting is done by students, under the guidance of adults.

Congratulations to the Tech activity students for their hard work, creativity and dedication, and to the cast, who also helped with construction and painting during set builds, under the guidance of Sasha Newman as the set designer, and Elaine Randolph as the co-teacher of the tech activity.
