On February 9, Emily Barre ‘17 represented Madeira for the second year in a row at the Brain Bee. The Brain Bee is a neuroscience competition and was held at the headquarters of the American Association for the Advancement of Sciences. It was sponsored by the Society for Neuroscience and the questions stemmed from a book published by the society called Brian Facts. Emily competed against more than 20 other students and improved her overall performance compared to last year, advancing two more rounds.
Emily remarked on what she enjoys about the Brain Bee:“I like the Brain Bee because it is an opportunity for me to explore my love for neuroscience. I have been interested in neuroscience for a long time, and this was a chance for me to study it and test my own knowledge. I intend on studying neuroscience in college and enjoyed this opportunity to dig deeper into the subject.”
