Thursday, May 26, 2016 members of the Madeira community gathered to celebrate the close of another school year, recognize faculty and staff members for their service, honor the class of 2016, and award the Virginia Peddle Community Service Award.
Library volunteers Nancy Farrell, Jan Fuchs, Karen Swinley, and Denise Rechter, all past parents at Madeira, are the recipients of the 2016 Virginia Peddle Community Service Award. “Many Madeira parents work quietly behind the scenes, not asking for recognition or appreciation, just trying to contribute to the institution that is educating their daughters,” said Madeira librarian, Kathleen Heinan. “Their daughters were members of the Madeira classes of 2006 and 2008. That’s right, eight to ten years ago, each of these women could have moved on like so many other former Madeira parents. However, fortunately for us, each of them is committed to Miss Madeira’s goal of educating young women and has continued to contribute to that mission by giving of her time and talents. It is time to honor them for their dedicated support of Madeira.”
The senior class dedicated the yearbook, Epilogue, to Sasha Newman and Elaine Randolph of the Madeira Arts Department. Both work behind the scenes teaching girls theater tech and oversee lighting, sound, and stage set up for all Madeira productions. “If you have ever appreciated a Madeira production, CMT or an ASM,” the dedication reads, “you have also appreciated the work of Ms. Randolph and Mrs. Newman.”
Danielle Huber-Inbar ’16 was awarded a ROTC scholarship that will cover her entire four years at Johns-Hopkins University, including stipends for books and other expenses.
