Annie Newton ’20 will be traveling to Jacksonville, FL over the winter break to represent the United States in the Brogden Cup, a historic three day lacrosse series that promotes international fellowship through the sport of lacrosse. The competition will be held December 27-29, 2017 at Jacksonville University and will be broadcast live on LaxAllStars live stream channel.
Last summer, Annie was selected to compete in the USSSA Brine National Lacrosse Classic, where her team won the tournament. Annie’s team will compete against the Canadian qualifying team, Team Ontario while in Florida.
As a freshman on the varsity lacrosse team for Madeira, Annie brought a strong presence to the Snails offense, and was one of the leading scorers for the 2017 season. In addition, Annie is a three sport Varsity athlete, competing on the varsity soccer and varsity basketball teams for the Snails. Outside of Madeira, Annie plays for a travel lacrosse team, Crash 2020, where she is a starting attacker and the leading scorer for the 2017 Summer and Fall Season.
“We are so proud of Annie," said Madeira Lacrosse Coach, Kelly Chandler. "She has worked incredibly hard and this is an awesome opportunity to showcase her efforts.”
Congratulations, Annie, on this fantastic accomplishment, and best of luck in representing the USA in the Brogden Cup!Athletics
