2015 Madeira Science Fair

On March 12, 94 students participated in the annual Madeira Science Fair with 59 projects. We had 15 judges from various fields, including four current parents, four past parents, and one alumna, Kate Walters Newhard ’03. Prizes were awarded to 30 students for 19 projects.

Prizes were awarded in the following categories:

Experimental Research – students asked a question, formed a hypothesis, did an experiment, and collected and analyzed data

  • Da Nature of Denaturation – Brie Perkins ’15 and Sukrana Uddin ’15
  • Feel the Attraction – Dani Huber Inbar ’16
  • Ionic Incidents – Cat Conran ’15 and Sophie Kim ’15
  • Spazzing Daphnia – Jenna Shackelford ’17

  • Wired Up – Elizabeth Leslie ’16 and Rachael Weininger ’16

Literature Research – students researched a scientific topic and presented their findings

  • A Closer Look at OCD – Erica Landry ’18

Engineering and Design - students were challenged to design and create a device that does something (not from a kit) - it could be something new or an improvement on an existing device.
