Vocalists and instrumentalists alike hone their talents and perfect their technique in the Madeira music program.
Madeira’s larger vocal ensemble is Madeira Glee, which learns and performs music in classical, folk, popular, and Broadway styles. Students receive either academic or activity credit for participating in the class. A brief evaluation or prior participation in the ensemble is required.
Sweet Ti, the school’s a cappella vocal ensemble, is an auditioned group comprised of singers in Madeira Glee. The group performs arrangements of contemporary songs on and off campus.
The orchestra, usually comprised of between 40 and 50 musicians, provides an ensemble experience for pianists, string players, and wind and brass players. Instrumentalists perform classical, jazz, and popular music styles. Students receive either academic or activity credit for participating in the class. A brief evaluation or prior participation in the ensemble is required.
Madeira offers private lessons with local professionals for activity credit, and music students share their talents with the Madeira community on at least one occasion each year. Click through to the private lessons page for detailed information and forms.
