January 26-27, 2020
Curious about boarding at Madeira? Interested in taking a tour of Capitol Hill and learning more about one of Madeira’s internship experiences? If so, the Capitol Hill Overnight event is for you. (If you live locally, please note that preference for this event is given to prospective boarding students who live outside the Washington D.C./Northern Virginia area.) We will confirm your participation at least two weeks before the event.
Students and parents should plan to arrive early afternoon on Sunday, January 26th. Families will enjoy a tour of campus, afterwhich girls will meet their hostesses for the evening. In the evening, students discover what campus life is all about, share a delicious meal in our dining hall, connect with boarders in our dorms, and enjoy the opportunity to explore our Makerspace and Fab Lab.
On Monday morning after breakfast, students will attend a class and then depart for Washington D.C. They will tour Capitol Hill, have lunch in the Congressional Dining Room, and chat with Madeira student interns. Meanwhile, parents remain at Madeira and meet with faculty and staff. Girls and parents will attend our weekly community meeting and then observe an after-school activity before heading home.
Please note that a parent/guardian is required to travel and stay locally. Learn more about nearby hotel accommodations, please visit this link: Where to Stay
