Meet the College Counseling Team

The search for a college that is the right match for you is a process that begins as soon as you choose a direction in your academic, personal, and extracurricular life. 

Students and families are encouraged to work as closely as needed with their college counselors. Students learn who their counselor will be early in their 9th grade year may reach out at any time throughout high school. College counselors use their knowledge to write the counselor recommendation on behalf of Madeira, and they work with each student to compile her college applications.

Linda Mathews

Director of College Counseling

Ms. Mathews began working at Madeira in 2009. She earned a bachelor's degree in Music and Religion from Kenyon College and a master's degree in Elementary Education from Bank Street College of Education. Prior to coming to Madeira Ms. Mathews served on the administrative team at The Cathedral School in New York City, first as the head of the lower school and then as the director of admission. After working in Madeira’s Admission Office, she became a college counselor in 2012.

Megan Hoover

Megan Hoover joined the College Counseling office at Madeira in 2020. She previously served as the Director of College Counseling & Dean of Students at Alverno High School and Assistant Director of College Counseling/Dorm Counselor at Sandy Springs Friends School. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Human Services from Elon University and a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from The Catholic University of America.

LeNae Franklin

LeNae Franklin joined the Madeira College Counseling Team in January 2021. Her diverse work experience includes her work in ministry, mental health and counseling, family and child welfare, home education, school enrollment and record management. Mrs. Franklin earned her bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the esteemed HBCU, Hampton University. She earned her master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh. She has dedicated more than twenty years working for the educational enhancement, economic advancement, and emotional health and empowerment of children and families as a career social worker in the DMV. She is glad to be a part of the Madeira community where “empowered women empower women” and become change agents of the world. Mrs. Franklin’s commitment to being a change agent continues as a member of Madeira’s inaugural Equity Team.
