Graduation Requirements

The requirements at Madeira ensure that all students build a strong foundation in individual disciplines and in interdisciplinary learning. They also ensure that each student has the flexibility and guidance to choose the courses that fascinate and challenge her most. 

 

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENTS WHO ENTER IN 9TH GRADE

3 one-mod internships (one in 10th, 11th and 12th)

12 credits (3 credits per year)

History

9 credits (must include 9th, 10th, 11th grade history courses) + 1 credit of research

Mathematics

12 credits

9 credits (must include Biology, Physics, and Chemistry)

World Languages*

9 credits

Interdisciplinary 

5 credits (must include Student Life, STEAM Fundamentals, one additional student life credit, one coding credit)

Activities

3 seasons yearly, at least two of which must be team experiences

* International Student English is 6 credits and replaces the World Language requirement. Placement in the International Student English Program is part of the admission decision.
