Alumnae Spotlight: Mika Brzezinski's Second Act

The Washington Post has published a feature story about Mika Brzezinski, class of 1985. The article focuses on Brzezinkski's role as co-host of MSNBC's morning show as well as her new syndicated radio show with Joe Scarborough. In October 2007, Ms. Brzezinkski spoke at Parents' Weekend. Madeira Girls Represent Canada at MOAS

Ten Madeira girls participated in a four day long Model Organization of American States conference from Dec 3-6. Madeira represented Canada at the 27th MOAS conference. Working in pairs, girls researched, wrote, debated and passed resolutions on such issues as human trafficking, promotion of regional trade agreements, hemispheric security, budgetary affairs, and the phenomenon of seasonal migration.

Madeira Girls Connect at 2008 People of Color Conference

The 2008 joint People of Color Conference (PoCC) and Student Diversity Leadership Conference (SDLC) was held December 5-7 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Madeira School sponsored a contingent of five students and were accompanied by three faculty chaperones. More than 3,200 student and adult participants met and connected through stimulating workshops, performing artist exhibitions, affinity group sessions, meals, and networking opportunities.

Madeira Riding Welcomes Local Organization

On Sunday, November 16, The Madeira School stables hosted an educational and fun-filled day for children and mothers of the Reston Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. The Jack and Jill boys and girls surprised The Madeira School with a donation of $100.00 to benefit the school's favorite outreach program, The Days’ End Farm Horse Rescue, Inc., a non-profit, volunteer based humane organization which fosters compassion and responsibility for horses through intervention, education, and outreach.
