About Girls First!

Each day we meet as a full camp to provide girls with an opportunity to learn about themselves through our girl power program exploring such areas as media literacy, role models, personality types, making good decisions and preserving your future, allowing girls to return to the new school year with new tools and strengths.

Girls have the choice of living on campus as resident students, or they may be day students and choose to end their day at camp after classes at 4:15 p.m. or stay for afternoon activities and dinner and depart camp at 6:00 p.m. Parents and invited to a Student Showcase on the last day of camp to sit in on class, view displays and a camp slide show.

The professional instructors at Girls First! mix personalized academic endeavors with social activities, games, and field trips using Madeira’s 376-acre campus overlooking the Potomac River and its close proximity to Washington, D.C.

Not only do young women who attend Girls First! interact with successful professionals in their chosen fields, they also form friendships with girls from across the US and the world. For all the academic instruction, structured and unstructured activities, and camaraderie our staff provides, the heart of the Girls First! experience is the amazing opportunity for growth provided by the girls themselves. In class talented young women are appreciated and challenged by a like-minded, friendly, diverse peer group. Outside of the classroom, girls make meaningful and enduring connections while participating in guided activities and spending free time with new friends. Girls First! is an invaluable chance for young women to experience a new place, develop close friendships, and learn from committed mentors.
