Meet Coach Wentzel

Coach Wentzel

At Madeira, learning extends beyond the classroom. Madeira riders are passionate about horses, but this is just one facet of their lives. I'm constantly amazed by how much they pack into a single day.

Instruction in Hunt Seat and basic horsemanship skills are the core of our riding curriculum, but we develop riders capable of participating in a variety of equestrian disciplines. Students are permitted to ride outside the required class times and are encouraged to participate in special events and long-standing traditions. It's as thrilling for me to teach a girl to canter for the first time, as it is to coach her a medal final.

Riders compete through in-house shows, interschool meets, and local and rated competitions off campus. More important than collecting ribbons is the support and sportsmanship everyone exhibits toward teammates and fellow competitors.

Whether you're a serious competitor, a pleasure rider, or learning to ride for the first time, the Madeira riding program welcomes girls of every skill level. If you're interested in riding at Madeira, I would love to meet you. Drop me a line or stop by the barn.
