Ninth Grade

The ninth grade Co-Curriculum program focuses on leadership development, life management skills, and explorations of the arts, through a variety of outdoor adventure opportunities, mini-courses, and field trips throughout the Washington, D.C., area.

Classes and Outdoor Adventure

In the fall and spring trimesters, ninth graders take classes in ethics, writing, and research, study skills, health and wellness, financial literacy, public speaking, and exploration of the arts. The afternoons are reserved for Outdoor Adventure. Ninth graders take part in rock climbing, rappelling, ropes courses, canoeing, kayaking, orienteering, outdoor cooking, team building, and horseback riding. These adventures serve to promote environmental awareness, group cooperation, and leadership skills.

Going Global

During the winter months, ninth grade Co-Curriculum goes global. Through globally focused classes, on-campus cultural opportunities, and field trips in and around Washington, D.C., a variety of countries and cultures are studied.
