With great foresight, Lucy Madeira envisioned part of Madeira's mission as helping "young women understand their changing world," having Madeira girls possess "a clear sense of self, of community, and of the world," and helping each student "assume responsibility for her actions in a global community."

The Global Programs Department strives to fulfill this mission by providing a rich array of global opportunities for the Madeira community. In addition, Madeira's academic departments and clubs provide many exciting and enlightening experiences for the Madeira community.
