Ava Brugger and Emily Avent qualified to compete at this weekend's WIHS Regional Hunter Finals at the Verizon Center in Washington D.C.
At the recent Washington International Regional Horse Show at the Prince George Equestrian Center in Upper Marlboro Maryland the Madeira Equestrian team had a very successful weekend. Ava Brugger ’19, Emma Bishop ’20, Emily Cyrway ’19, Bailey Petty ’18 and Emma Avent (community rider) kept their composure as they competed against some of the best horses and riders in the Mid-Atlantic at this prestigious competition. Bailey, who was competing for the first time with her new horse “Gitte,” earned 1st and 6th place out of 37 competitors in the Low Children’s Hunter Division. Emily and her horse “Finnigan” earned a 6th and 7th place out of 35 younger Children’s Hunters. In her first competition with Madeira, Emma B. and her horse “Shimmer,” earned an 8th place in the younger Children’s Hunters and two 7th places in a huge Modified Hunter Division (70 competitors). Emma and her horse “Happenstance” earned a 2nd, 3rd and 5th in the Modified Hunter Division and a 3rd in the younger Children’s Hunters. Ava and her horse “Primetime,” were Reserve Champion in the younger Children’s Hunters with a 1st, 5th and 7th place.
